Pace University to hold ninth annual Pace Pitch Contest, Thursday, April 18
Student entrepreneurs to deliver new business concept presentations to a distinguished panel of judges
New York, April 9 – Pace University’s Lubin School of Business will hold its ninth annual Pitch Contest on Thursday, April 18 at the University’s lower Manhattan campus, east of City Hall and six blocks from Wall Street. The event is presented by Lubin’s state of the art Entrepreneurship Lab (E-Lab), which opened in February 2012.
The Pace Pitch Contest is based on the ‘elevator pitch’ concept, popular in the venture capital community. It is an extremely concise presentation of an entrepreneur’s idea, business model, marketing strategy, competitive analysis, and financial plan, which is delivered to potential investors. The premise is that it could be made in a few minutes, should the entrepreneur spot a potential investor on an elevator and have the opportunity to pitch their idea during the brief ride.
Six finalists have been selected to compete:
B100 Production Facility will provide Jamaican businesses and citizens with a cheaper alternative to high-priced petroleum diesel by producing B100 (100% biodiesel) and reduce their carbon footprint.
Nova Software will provide point of sale systems and software to small and medium sized businesses in the food and beverage industry.
Nuque Tie New York makes reversible ties — one side for the boardroom, the reverse for a night on the town. Nuque Ties come in three variations: the Wall Street, the Park Avenue, and the Broadway.
SAI is developing software to analyze every type of information online relating to a specific publicly owned company and offer tools to help analyze the information.
Trendytres is a fashion discovery online platform that recommends matching clothing items, accessories, makeup combinations and hairstyles based on user’s interests and personal selections.
Wrangle Sports is a mobile phone and tablet application targeting sports fanatics of all major league sports, allowing them to debate about their favorite teams using statics with a community of sports fans. Do you play poker online? Have a look at NJ Poker to view list of legal online poker sites.
Each finalist will have exactly three minutes to pitch their new venture idea to a distinguished panel of judges. Panelists include Mark A. Herschberg, CTO, MadisonLogic; Charlie O’Donnell, Partner, Brooklyn Bridge Ventures; Stephen Sokoler, President & CEO, Altrum Honors; and Michael Vesey, CFO, Majesco.
“The Pace Pitch Contest is an exciting opportunity for students to demonstrate their creativity, business acumen and presentation skills,” said Professor Bruce Bachenheimer, organizer of the event. “It’s also a fun and fast-paced experience for the audience. Watching the finalists pitch and listening to the judges’ questions and feedback provides unique and valuable insights.”
The event will be held on Thursday, April 18 at One Pace Plaza, Multipurpose Room, New York City campus, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.
