Manhattan D.A. to introduce panelists and Secret Service Agent to moderate cybercrime symposium convened by ACCA USA and Pace University, Thursday, Feb. 28

New research from Pace to provide clearer understanding of skimmer fraud

NEW YORK, Feb. 25, 2013 – ACCA USA, the U.S. arm of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, will hold a cybercrime symposium and panel discussion on Thurs., Feb. 28, at Pace University’s lower Manhattan campus, east of City Hall and six blocks from Wall Street.

Stephen J. Friedman, Pace University President, will provide opening remarks and the panel will be introduced by Cyrus Vance Jr., Manhattan District Attorney. Paul Mahon, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Secret Service New York Field Office, will serve as moderator.

Panelists include Helen Brand, CEO, ACCA; Kelly Bissell, Principal, Information and Technology Risk Management and Global Incident Response, Deloitte & Touche LLP; Darren Hayes, DPS, Computer Information Systems Program Chair, Pace University; Joseph D. Leonard, Officer, Technology Services Group, Federal Reserve Bank of New York; Christopher Novak, Managing Principal and Co-founder, Verizon Business Investigative Response Unit; and David Szuchman, Executive Assistant District Attorney, Chief of the Cybercrime and Identity Theft Bureau and Investigative Division.

ACCA has commissioned Pace to conduct original research in the specialized area of skimmer fraud in order to provide business leaders and law enforcement officials with a clearer understanding of the technologies, methods and origins behind this widespread form of cybercrime.

The “Cybercrime in the World Today 2013” event will be held on Thurs., Feb. 28 at Pace’s Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts, located at 3 Spruce St.in Lower Manhattan, from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.
