VERIZON CIO TO BE HONORED AT PACE UNIVERSITY’S LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE IN TECHNOLOGY AWARD RECEPTION, JUNE 6

WHO: This year’s honoree is Shaygan Kheradpir, chief information officer for Verizon Communications. He is responsible for information technology and e-business, including information systems strategy, architecture and the development and maintenance of all corporate systems. Prior to his current assignment, Kheradpir was president – e-Business Group for Verizon, a position he held since July 2000. Prior to that, Kheradpir was vice president – Information Technology, Enterprise Systems for GTE. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers, and serves on Cornell University’s Electrical Engineering School advisory board and on the Sun Microsystems’ technology advisory council. He also serves on the board of directors of The YMCA of Greater New York.

WHAT: 10th Annual Leadership and Service in Technology Award Reception, celebrated by Pace University’s School of Computer Science and Information Systems (CSIS). Each year, CSIS has presented the Leadership and Service in Technology award to an individual or company that best exemplifies leadership in the field of technology, innovation in the application of technology to serve people, and commitment to community service and education. The annual award reception serves as the primary fund-raiser for CSIS. All proceeds are used to support the CSIS Endowed Scholarship Fund and various CSIS innovative initiatives.

WHEN and WHERE: American Express will host the event at AMEX headquarters, World Financial Center, Lower Manhattan, Monday, June 6, 6 pm.
