German Literature Expert to Discuss the Holocaust and Postwar Fiction

Ernestine Schlant Bradley, professor of German and comparative literature at Montclair State University, will speak about her latest book, Language of Silence: West German Literature and The Holocaust, at 6 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2000, at the Pace Downtown Theater on Spruce Street in lower Manhattan. NEW YORK – Ernestine Schlant Bradley, professor of German and comparative literature at Montclair State University, will speak about her latest book, Language of Silence: West German Literature and The Holocaust, at 6 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2000, at the Pace Downtown Theater on Spruce Street in lower Manhattan. The lecture is free and open to the public.

For more than 35 years, Ernestine Schlant Bradley, wife of former United States Senator and NBA star Bill Bradley, has written extensively and lectured widely on German and Austrian literature. In her latest book, Schlant, as she is professionally known, examines the work of post-war German authors as they reflect or fail to reflect on the genocide that took place during World War II. During the course of her academic career, Schlant has been awarded numerous fellowships, including one from the prestigious Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars in Washington.

This event is part of the Dyson Lectures in the Humanities and is sponsored by the English department of Pace University’s Dyson College of Arts and Sciences. For more information, contact the English department at (212) 346-1402.
